Who is Mies?

Mies' her real name is Michelle de Boer and she is originally an art director and designer. She gained over 15 years of experience at various design and advertising agencies in Amsterdam, from print to digital. Since 2017, Mies can be hired as a freelance art director and designer for (online) campaign concepts and designs, social media strategy and content, print and corporate identities.

She enjoyed working at various advertising agencies on small, but also very large clients. But she missed the analogue creative work, like she used to do at art school. In the summer of 2017 she thought: go crazy, buy a watercolour block! After the first stroke on paper, she is unstoppable. Animals seem to be her favourite, but actually she can paint just about anything she wants. Mies then opened a webshop on Etsy and Bol. She started by selling her original watercolours, but soon personalised children's plates were added. And now there is a whole range of products to be proud of and more are added all the time!

Her children Jan and Jet are a great source of inspiration. Through the pure creativity they still have, they teach Mies to look at our world with different eyes. That is why her motto is: Never grow up.
